Copy of Dark Rose, 2005

Early Light

Early light is my favorite light, the start of a new day, something new. This series consists of black and white landscapes, still lifes and the female form mostly photographed with infrared film. I wanted to capture the ethereal qualities of clouds in the sky, the human body and light that cannot be seen with the human eye.

Many of my first prints from this series are lith prints, using Kodalith developer part A and B. The print does not have a 2 minute developing time like other paper developers, using this developer your print will continue to develop until it is completely black. The print needs to be watched and pulled out of the developer as soon as the blacks “pop”, the print can take 5 minutes up to 30 minutes depending on the age of the developer, temperature or the paper being used. I used a specific paper to receive the warm tones. Unfortunately this paper and developer are no longer available but I enjoyed this process immensely, no two prints are the same, truly one of a kind. I have a few lith prints left and the remainder of the editions are silver gelatin prints. Please inquire if you are interested in my lith prints, I only have a few prints left of select images in this series, and the size/pricing varies.
